Celebrations are underway at Eden Boys’ Leadership Academy, Birmingham East after pupils received outstanding GCSE results.

This year’s exceptional results follow the school securing an ‘Outstanding’ judgement earlier this year in its first Ofsted inspection since opening in 2018.

School staff and parents have today been celebrating with pupils at the school as they progress onto the next stage of their education or training.

Abdul-Rahman Chamma was one of the school’s top performers after securing 12 GCSEs and a Level 2 BTec. The talented pupil achieved seven grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7, and a level 2 Distinction in Sports Studies. Abdul-Rahman, who aspires to pursue a career in artificial intelligence, has secured a place at King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys.

Reflecting on his achievements, Abdul-Rahman said:

“I’m so excited to have received the grades I need to go on to study A Levels in Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics and Further Mathematics. I am one step closer to achieving my dream of specialising in artificial intelligence for medicine.”

Hamza Yousuf Zamir, who dreams of studying medicine at Oxbridge, achieved five grade 9s, two grade 8s and two grade 7s. He will now continue his studies at Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School where he will complete A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Thanking staff at the school, Hamza said:

“Thank you so much to everyone at Eden Boys’ Leadership Academy, Birmingham East for helping me to get so far, I really don’t think I could have done it without you.”

Humzah will now take the next step towards his dream of studying medicine at Imperial College, London by completing A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys.

Humzah, who was the school’s Deputy Head Boy, said:

“If you had told me at the beginning of Year 7 that I would go on to achieve these results or to develop the confidence that I have, I would never have believed you. I’m just so grateful to all the teachers, staff and my parents and friends for helping me to grow and develop into the person I am today. Thank you Eden for the amazing opportunities!”

Akhmed Hussain, Principal at Eden Boys’ Leadership Academy, Birmingham East, said:

“Many congratulations to our pupils on their outstanding results. They have worked extremely hard, and I hope they are proud of their achievements as they go on to the next chapter of their lives.
